DMA responds to context and living through the organisation of space, sculpting of form and the materiality of that form.
What is your favourite colour?
Black (Resene Bokhara or Blackjack) and white (Resene Eight Thorndon Cream). I like to put emphasis on natural materiality rather than colour.
What is your design aesthetic?
I like a design to be minimal with a real emphasis on materiality.
What is your favourite room in your home?
Bathrooms - a backdrop for one of the many rituals in daily life.
Where do you find your design inspiration?
Everywhere - a lot through observing how people use space, and what works and what doesn’t. Everything has inspiration potential.
What is your prediction of the next design trend?
Toward a period of restraint. Scandinavian design reflects a judicious use of resources while providing beautiful and functional spaces or pieces of furniture. That is sustainable design.
