What’s in Season? Nashi Pears, Mandarins and Persimmons

When you’re strapped for time (and ideas) it can be hard to eat healthy.
Luckily, a few fruit favourites are now in season to keep your meals interesting and nutritious!

Nashi pears, mandarins and persimmons are fresh in supermarkets, ready for you to whip together some quick, healthy dishes.

Check out these simple salad recipes from 5+ A Day; simply throw together these seasonal ingredients to create a bowl of deliciousness – no cooking required!

Winter Fruit Salad with Honeycomb and Chia Seeds

Serves: A crowd | Preparation: 15 minutes | Cooking: none


Ingredients
  • 4 mandarins
  • 2 persimmon
  • 2 green kiwifruit
  • 2 gold kiwifruit
  • 2 Nashi pears
  • Fresh mint leaves
  • 1 tablespoon of white balsamic vinegar (optional)
  • 1 wedge of honeycomb (or a couple of tablespoons of other honey)
  • Chia seeds (optional)

Method

Chop all fruit into desired sized chunks and mix together with the balsamic and mint leaves. Serve sprinkled with chia seeds and a slice of honeycomb.

Autumn Salad with Nashi Pears and Pecans

Serves: 6-8 | Preparation: 10 minutes | Cooking: none


Ingredients
  • 3 Nashi pears, sliced into wedges
  • 6 handfuls baby rocket
  • 100g mozzarella, torn into pieces
  • 100g pecans
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 50g pomegranate arils
  • 1 tablespoon avocado oil

Method

Place rocket on platter, followed by mozzarella, pecans and Nashi pears, then sprinkle with chia, pomegranate and avocado oil.

Refrigerate until ready to serve.
